Our Children’s School Council Task Group

School Council Task Group

Our aim as a School Council Task Group is to make our school an even better place for all children. In September the children in each class have an election to select two representatives. Children put themselves forward for election and a secret ballot is held. Representatives must be friendly and approachable and take everybody’s ideas and suggestions seriously. You have to be confident and happy to speak in front of your class. In the playground there is a display which shows each class representative.

Meetings are held each half term. The group then report back to their classmates what has happened in the meeting. One of the most important roles is setting a good example and trying to follow the School’s Golden Rules and Values at all times.

Our main job is to provide strong pupil voice. We listen to our peers and use our meetings to make decisions affecting our learning. We particularly enjoy our input into designing the curriculum. This can include looking ahead to plan class identities and special theme weeks, such as whole Big Arts Week and Remembrance projects.

All the children agree that it is well worth having a School Council Task Group because they feel that they have a say in how Ayios Nikolaos Primary School is run.
